Who is Thomas A. Bartlett?

Thomas A. Bartlett is senior vice president and controller of Verizon, a position he has held since November 2005. He also serves as both chief compliance officer and principal accounting officer for Verizon. Under his leadership, Verizon continues to successfully strengthen its balance sheet and financial position while restructuring its portfolio of businesses. Over the last several years, Bartlett held roles as senior vice president and treasurer as well as senior vice president in investor relations. Bartlett has extensive wireless and international business experience in both operations and business development. When Verizon was created in 2000 from the Bell Atlantic/GTE merger, Bartlett was appointed president-Global Solutions Inc., a Verizon business unit responsible for operating a global communications network linking the United States with major cities in Europe, Asia and South America. From 1995-2000 he was president and chief executive officer of Bell Atlantic International Wireless.Bartlett also served as chief executive officer of Grupo Iusacell (NYSE), the second-largest telecommunications company in Mexico. From 1991-1995 he managed Bell Atlantic Mobile's Philadelphia, Northeast and upstate New York markets (now part of Verizon Wireless).Bartlett, a CPA, began his career in 1981 with Deloitte Haskins Sells (now Deloitte Touche) in New York and worked on both their audit and consulting staffs. In 1984, he joined the staff of Bell Atlantic Enterprises handling mergers and acquisitions. Bartlett has served on a number of Verizon boards of directorship in North America and offshore. Several of these roles included assignments on the board's audit, finance and compensation committees. He is currently a board director of Prevention Education Inc., a charitable organization in New Jersey, and serves on the Board of Advisors of the Rutgers Business School. Bartlett earned a degree in engineering from Lehigh University in 1980 and a M.B.A. from Rutgers University in 1981.
