Who was Vasily Solovyov-Sedoi?

Vasily Pavlovich Solovyov-Sedoi was a Russian classical composer who was born and died in Saint Petersburg.

Solovyov-Sedoi composed the music for the songs Solovi and Moscow Nights. Originally named Solovyov, when he entered the Russian "Composer's Union" he added the suffix "Sedoi", meaning grey, to avoid confusion with another composer with the same name.
