Who is William Seiji Marsh?
William Seiji Marsh is an American musician known for his work as the lead guitarist for the ska-swing band the Cherry Poppin' Daddies, of which he has been a member since 2010. Born in Yokohama, Japan, Marsh moved to the United States with his parents when he was seven years old. He grew up in Oregon and showed a keen aptitude for the guitar throughout his adolescent years as a member of his middle school and high school jazz bands. During his senior year of high school, he was selected to participate in the MENC All Northwest Honor Groups. He continued his education at the University of Oregon where he studied music. While attending the University, he played with many of the school's ensembles including the award-winning Oregon Jazz Ensemble, the Green Garter Band, the Oregon Wind Ensemble and the Eugene Contemporary Chamber Ensemble. During his final term, Marsh was awarded the Outstanding College Rhythm Section Performer Award at the 2008 Reno Jazz Festival, as well as the University of Oregon's award in recognition for outstanding performance in the jazz studies field. In 2010, Marsh assumed a permanent role as lead guitarist for the Eugene-based band the Cherry Poppin' Daddies.
