Who was Yadavalli Suryanarayana?

Yadavalli Suryanarayana was an eminent Theater and Cinema Actor. He has contributed richly to the Telugu theatre for over three decades.

He was born in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh in a rich family. He successfully completed Matriculation and learned Sanskrit and Telugu along with the Panchakavyas. He has started playing on Stage from his Student days. His healthy body with dignity used to suit very well for the roles of Maharaja characters. He toured Andhra Pradesh with Mylavaram Balabharati Nataka Samajam of Bezawada and Seetharamanjaneya Nataka Samajam of Eluru and earned lasting fame. He was very effective in portraying Satyavan in Savithri, Rama in Paduka, Dushyant in Shakuntala, Sarangadhara in Sarangadhara, Arjuna in Gayopakhyanam, Bahuka in Chitranaleeyam, and as Duryodhana in Veni Samharam, Draupadi Vastrapaharanam and Pandava Udyoga Vijayam plays.

He has entered the Telugu cinema field in 1932 and played similar roles proved his mettle. However he died early at the age of 50 years in 1939.
