Who is Yousef Alreemawi?

Yousef Alreemawi was born in Jordan to Palestinian parents and grew up in Saudi Arabia. He is the founder of the Australian Society for Palestinian Iraqi Refugees Emergency, an Australian not for profit company aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of refugees by resettling stateless Palestinian refugees to Australia for the chance of a better life.

Yousef Alreemawi campaigns locally and internationally to change policy and practice and ensure resettlements’ vital role in reducing poverty and helplessness among refugees is recognised. He has visited refugees in Malaysia and Iraq and has spoken on Palestine at conferences and lectures in Jordan and Australia.

He holds B. Sc. in Chemical Engineering- Jordan, P. Grad. Certificate in Business Administration from Sheffield Hallam University - UK, and MBA from Deakin University - Australia. Yousef acquired the accreditation of the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters in professional translation. His academic career began in 2004 at Deakin University as a lecturer and then as the key developer of Deakin's Arabic program online. In 2009, he joined The University of Melbourne as a Lecturer in Arabic.
