Who is Ajay Waghray?

Ajay Waghray is chief information officer for Verizon Enterprise Solutions. In his role, Waghray is responsible for leading the company's global Information Technology strategy and initiatives.

Prior to his current role, Waghray was CIO for Verizon Wireless since 2007, where he led the drive to innovate, consolidate and simplify the company's IT systems portfolio, focusing on continuous improvement of the customer experience in company stores, call centers and online portals. His team’s innovative use of technology merited industry recognition for the team at the top of the InformationWeek 500 List of U.S. Technology Innovators, a spot on CIO magazine's Leaders in IT, and one of InfoWorld’s 2010 CTO 25. Additionally, Verizon Wireless has been recognized on Computerworld’s list of 100 Best Places to Work in IT for 9 consecutive years, reaching the list’s #5 ranking in 2011.

Waghray started his wireless career with Bell Atlantic Mobile in 1997 as a director of Information Technology. He was named a vice president of IT when the company became part of the newly formed Verizon Wireless. Most recently, he served as chief information officer of Verizon Wireless’ Midwest Area, making him responsible for IT operations across 15 states.
