Who is Akbar Ali?

M. Akbar Ali is a kannada professor and poet from Karnataka, India. He was awarded the Sumana Saurabha - Karnataka State Sahitya Academy award in 1967 and 1984. In 1986, he became a Member of the Karnataka Vidhan Parishad.

He was born to Ameerbi and Appa Saheb from Ullagaddi village of Khanapur, Belgaum district. Ali completed his Bachelor of Arts and from University of Bombay in 1949. He passed Master of Arts degrees from Willingdon College Sangli in 1960. He served as a lecturer in Arts and Science College, Karwar for 14 years. In 1980, University of Mysore awarded him with degree of PhD.

Akbar Ali was a poet and a writer in Kannada language. His works include Nava Chetan, "Anna", "Sumana Saurabha", "Gandha Kesara", Nireeksheyalli, and Vish Sindhu.
