Who is Albert Carnesale?

Albert Carnesale is an American academic. He is a former chancellor of the University of California, Los Angeles, provost of Harvard University, and dean of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. In November 1994, while serving as Dean and Provost, Carnesale also served as Acting President of Harvard during the medical leave of President Neil Leon Rudenstine. In May 2011, Carnesale was awarded the Harvard Medal for service to the university. He has also been involved in international diplomacy on nuclear non-proliferation. Through March 2011, Carnesale taught undergraduate and graduate courses at UCLA on topics relating to U.S. national security with Professor Amy Zegart.
