Scheick, who is originally from The Village of Brooklyn, Michigan, has pursued a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Alaska Anchorage, aided by the scholarship she received from winning the Miss Alaska USA pageant. Her ambition is to be a broadcaster on ESPN, and her particular passion is ice hockey.

Scheick's interests include traveling and working with children, which she has combined by working as a nanny in Italy on two occasions. In 2006, this work allowed her to experience the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin.
