Who is Aleksander Delchev?
Aleksander Delchev is a Bulgarian chess grandmaster. He won the Bulgarian Chess Championship in 1994, 1996 and 2001. He participated in five Chess Olympiads with a performance of 60.4%.
Selected tournament victories include the European Junior Chess Championship, the 47th Reggio Emilia chess tournament, 4th Open Master at the Sixth International Chess Festival in Benidorm and the International Open Championship of Croatia. In 2011 he tied for 2nd-7th with Julio Granda, Ivan Šarić, Pablo Almagro Llamas, Maxim Turov and Mihail Marin the 31st Villa de Benasque Open.
He is the author of two books on opening theory:
The Safest Sicilian with International Master Semko Semkov. Provides an opening repertoire for black in the Taimanov Variation of the Sicilian Defense.
The Safest Grunfeld with Evgenij Agrest. Provides an opening repertoire for black in the Grunfeld Defence.
