Who is Alex Halberstadt?

Alex Halberstadt is an American writer, noted in particular for his biography of Doc Pomus. He came to the United States as a child in 1980. He graduated from noted New York public school Stuyvesant High School, then graduated from Oberlin College in 1992. For some time he worked at NYANA, a refugee resettlement agency in New York City.

Alex Halberstadt’s writings have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, GQ, Los Angeles Times, The New Yorker, Salon, the Oxford American, and elsewhere. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
