Who is Alexander Nanta Linggi?

Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi is a Malaysian politician. He is the Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development and currently the Member of the Parliament of Malaysia for the Kapit constituency in Sarawak, representing the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu in the governing Barisan Nasional coalition.

Alexander is the grandson of Sarawak leader Tun Jugah Barieng and the son of former politician Datuk Amar Leonard Linggi. He is also a businessman, having served as the Chairman of shipping company Swee Joo Bhd.

Alexander received the Panglima Jasa Negara which carries the titles 'Datuk' from Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin in conjunction with His Majesty's birthday on 5 June 2010.

On 16 May 2013, after his victory in 13th General Election, he was appointed as Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development under the new cabinet of Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
