Who is Alexei Bell?

Alexei Bell, born October 2, 1983 in El Caney, Santiago de Cuba Province, Cuba, is a baseball player for Cuba. He was part of the Cuban team which won a silver medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics and earned the batting crown, hit more extra bases than any other player and led the tournament in slugging average.

In 2008 Bell hit 31 home runs and got 111 RBIs in only 90 games, that was in the regular season,also he got 252 total of bases, made the only 25-25 in history of Cuban baseball, stealing 25 bases and hitting more than 25 home runs, all of it is a record for the Cuban league. That year Bell led the Cuban league in Runs and Slugging.

In the play-offs Bell hit 5 more home runs and, along with his teammate Rolando MeriƱo, led the offensive of Santiago de Cuba to win the Cuban League Championship in 2008. That season he became the first National Series player to hit 30 home runs and drive in 100 runs.
