Football player
1893 – 1964
Who was Alf Amos?
Herbert Amos was a footballer who played in the Football League for Brentford and Millwall Athletic.
Alf started his career as an amateur with Kingstonian and then played for Brentford when they joined the Third Division in 1920. He appeared in 74 Football League matches for the Bees, scoring four goals. Amos played in nine of the 11 matches in 1926, when Millwall created a Football league record for the most consecutive matches without conceding a goal. He was equally at home in the right- or left-half position, stout in defence, a vigorous tackler and a man who supported his forwards well with his clever footwork and accurate passing.
