Who was Alice Wheeldon?
Alice Ann Wheeldon was a member of the Independent Labour Party, pacifist and anti-war campaigner. She was convicted in 1917, along with one of her daughters and her son-in-law, of conspiracy to kill the British Prime Minister David Lloyd George. At least some of the evidence given in the case against them appears to have been fabricated by MI5 on behalf of "a government eager to disgrace the antiwar movement".
