Who is Alissar Caracalla?

Alissar Caracalla, daughter of Abdul-Halim Caracalla the founder of the Caracalla Dance Theater is a Lebanese dancer and choreographer. She is the founder of Studio Caracalla “ L’Art de la Danse” and of the “Orientalist Dance Company”; She is the new choreographer to the Caracalla Dance Theater, adding an innovative spirit to the unique Caracalla technique to become the flame of present and future of the Arabic culture with her creative style in choreography since the balletAlissar Queen of Carthage” all the way to the production of “Villagers’Opera”.

Alissar is one of the leading independent young choreographers of the Middle East who has been able to use a unique dance style blending the oriental identity with the disciplines of modern techniques.

Having finished school at the Lycee Francais in London, Alissar continued her university studies in Los Angeles at Loyola Marymount University, majoring in International Communication and Dance. In 2000 she graduated with a Dance Theory & Choreography degree from the University of California in Los Angeles. She furthered her jazz and Hip-hop techniques by following classes at the Edge performing arts center, Los Angeles and Broadway Dance Center in NYC. She studied under the leading choreographers in modern times such as Terry Beeman, Alex Magno, Eddie Garcia and Mia Michaels.
