Who is Amr ibn Abd al-Wud?

Amr ibn Abd al-Wud was a champion of Quraish, killed by Ali in the Battle of the Trench.

He was given the title of the victor of Yalyal because once he was with a caravan going to Shaam when they reached Yalyal, one thousand robbers attacked and Amr bin Abde Wudd faced and drove them alone by holding a young camel as a shield. According to Muhammad baqir, when he issued a duel challenge in the battle of Khandaq against muslim, they came behind the Prophet.

then Ali ibn Abi Talib Stood forward accepting the challenge. Amr was lost the Duel and killed afterward

after the battle, when Amr’s sister heard that the killer of her brother did not remove anything from the body of her brother, she said, “His killer is definitely a noble person with high moral values!” When people said that it was `Ali Ibn Abi-Talib she recited the following couplets:

If `Amr’s killer was anyone other than `Ali, I would have cried for him forever But his killer is he who has no faults And his father is known as chief of Makkah.
