Who is Andrew K. Golden?

Andrew K. Golden is President of the Princeton University Investment Company which manages the university's financial endowment. According to a report in the Daily Princetonian, the endowment earned a 5.6 percent return for the 12 months ended in June 2008, growing from $15.8 billion to $16.4 billion.

Golden cites "unusually volatile" markets as the cause for the steep decline. He has not given an updated figure since the end of Fiscal Year 2007/2008.

Before joining Princeton in 1995, Golden worked with David Swensen as an intern and then as Portfolio Manager at Yale's Investment Office from 1988 to 1993. Golden's investment approach is based on "challenging conventionality."

Golden graduated from Rutgers Prep and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Duke University and his master's degree from Yale School of Management in 1989. Golden also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Golden's brothers, Dr. Robert N. Golden and Jeffrey Golden, are also leaders in their chosen fields, with Robert the Dean of the Medical School at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and Jeffrey a lawyer.
