Who is Andrew Lowe?

Andrew Lowe is a retired Canadian geophysicist, working at Petro-Canada, PanCanadian Energy, and Encana. During 2009-2013, he helped to establish the Duvernay formation as a world-class resource prospect at Encana. He is also an amateur astronomer and has discovered a number of asteroids.

With his discovery of the asteroid 2010 AX2 on January 7, 2010, he became one of only six individual observers worldwide with discoveries spanning five or more consecutive decades. He is also the first observer to accomplish this feat since 1961.

Lowe's 2009 AF and 2010 AX2 were the first asteroids from 2009 and 2010 to be numbered.

The asteroid 4091 Lowe is named in his honour.
