Who was Andrew McConnell January Cochran?
Andrew McConnell January Cochran was a United States federal judge.
Born in Maysville, Kentucky, Cochran received an A.B. from Centre College in 1873 and an LL.B. from Harvard Law School in 1877. He was in private practice in Maysville, Kentucky from 1877 to 1901.
On April 24, 1901, Cochran received a recess appointment from William McKinley to a new seat on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky created by 31 Stat. 781. Formally nominated on December 5, 1901, he was confirmed by the United States Senate on December 17, 1901, and received his commission the same day. Cochran served until his death, in 1934.
