Who was Andries van Eertvelt?
Andries van Eertvelt, was a Flemish Baroque painter.
He became a master in the Guild of St. Luke in 1609. He is registered in Genoa from 1628–1630, where he lived with Cornelis de Wael. In 1630 he returned to Antwerp.
According to Houbraken, he was famous for his stormy seas, and he is remembered as a "son of the seas" by Cornelis de Bie. His portrait was painted by Anthony van Dyck.
