Who is Ann S. Kraus?

Ann Kraus was named Vice President, Compensation and Benefits in September 1999.

She joined The New York Times Company as director of compensation in 1997.

Previously, Ms. Kraus was director of compensation at Prudential Insurance Company

where she was responsible for designing their corporate compensation policy and

programs since 1994.

Prior to that, she was vice president of compensation at Canadian Imperial Bank

of Commerce, Inc., from 1989 to 1994; assistant vice president, compensation at

Irving Trust Company from 1979 to 1989, and personnel administrator, assistant secretary

at Broadway Bank and Trust Company from 1973 to 1979.

Ms. Kraus received a B.A. degree in liberal arts from William Paterson College in

New Jersey in 1973, an M.B.A. degree in management from Fairleigh Dickinson University

in New Jersey in 1979, and is certified by the American Compensation Association.
