Who is Anthony Kleanthous?

Anthony Kleanthous is the current chairman of Barnet Football Club. He became the youngest football chairman to enter the football league when he bought the club in 1994. He has become the central figure at Barnet in the long-running debate with Barnet Council over the Underhill club's attempts to find a site for the development of a new ground in the Borough of Barnet. Alterations to the football club continue to be put in place in order to aid the football club to adapt and improve. Kleanthous has seen the relegation of Barnet Football Club from the football league, as well as its promotion to its current status and its entry into major football competitions. He has bought Barnet Cricket Club. He bought the ground and the club as he thought it would be an ideal site to expand the Underhill stadium which is why he is arguing with Barnet Council.

Kleanthous was one of the main figures in the planning, construction and opening of "The Hive" at the Prince Edward's playing fields, in Edgware, Middlesex. The 44-acre site totalled £11 million, consisting of several astroturf pitches, 10 grass pitches, 14 dressing rooms, physiotherapy rooms and meeting rooms. It was opened as a centre of footballing excellence on 15 December by Fabio Capello and Sir Trevor Brooking.
