Who was Anton Mervar?

Anton Mervar was a manufacturer of button accordions.

He completed his apprenticeship at Lubas & Sohn in Slovenia in 1912, after which he moved to the United States. In 1921 he opened his own factory in Cleveland, Ohio. Every second year he travelled to Europe to get parts for his accordions.

Mervar and his wife died in a car accident on 21 July 1941. Upon hearing the news of his parents' death, their son died from hypoglycemia, and Mervar's daughter Justine Reber, who inherited the factory, sold most of the unfinished accordion parts and machinery to former employees.
