Who was Archdale Parkhill?
Sir Robert Archdale Parkhill KCMG was an Australian politician. He was born at Paddington in Sydney to Robert Parkhill, a stonemason, and Isabella, née Chisholm. He attended Paddington and Waverley Public schools and became known as an excellent sportsman, participating in cricket, fencing, boxing and horse riding. He began work as a clerk but eventually became alderman of Waverley Municipal Council from 1904–09. He became secretary of the Liberal and Reform Association of New South Wales in 1904, and on 9 May 1906 married Florence Ruth Watts at Woollahra.
