Who was Armand Mondou?

Joseph Armand Mondou was a Canadian ice hockey forward.

Mondou was born in Saint-David, Quebec. He played his entire National Hockey League career with the Montreal Canadiens. He made his NHL debut in 1928 and would retire following the 1940 season. He went on to win two Stanley Cups with Montreal in 1930 and 1931. Mondou also holds the distinction of being the first NHL player to attempt a penalty shot. George Hainsworth would save Mondou's attempt.

He was the grandfather of Pierre Mondou, who also would play in the NHL. He lived to see his grandson drafted by the Canadiens, but died before he could see his grandson play for the team.
