Who is Armando Galarraga?
Armando Antonio Galarraga Barreto is a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher in the Texas Rangers organization. Armando Galarraga made his Major League Baseball debut with the Rangers on September 15, 2007. He was traded to the Detroit Tigers at the end of the 2007 season.
On June 2, 2010, while playing for the Tigers, he was deprived of a perfect game by an incorrect call made by umpire Jim Joyce in the top of the ninth inning with two outs.
With the exception of his stellar rookie season of 2008, and his near-perfect game in 2010, Galarraga has not had sustained success in the Major Leagues.
