Who was Auguste Mariette?
François Auguste Ferdinand Mariette was a French scholar, archaeologist and Egyptologist, the designer of the rebuilt Egyptian Museum under Maximilian of Austria's orders when the latter had gained control of the artifacts collected to that point.
