Who is Ballon d'Or 2006?
The 2006 Ballon d'Or, given to the best football player in Europe as judged by a panel of sports journalists from UEFA member countries, was awarded to Fabio Cannavaro on 28 November 2006.
Cannavaro was the fifth Italian national to win the award after Omar Sívori, Gianni Rivera, Paolo Rossi, and Roberto Baggio. He was also the fifth Real Madrid player to win the trophy after Alfredo di Stéfano, Raymond Kopa, Ronaldo and Luís Figo.
