Benjamin F. Feingold, M.D., was a pediatric allergist from California, who proposed in 1973 that salicylates, artificial colors, and artificial flavors cause hyperactivity in children. Hyperactivity is now classified as attention deficit disorder or attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder.
