Who is Bill Wielechowski?
Bill P. Wielechowski is a Democratic member of the Alaska Senate, representing the J District since 2006. Wielechowski is of Polish origin; his grandfather came to America from Kraków in 1910
Wielechowski was elected to the Alaska State Senate in 2006. He represents the Northeast Anchorage neighborhoods of Mt. View, Muldoon and Russian Jack. He has been a majority member of the Senate Bi-partisan Working Group since that time. He was re-elected in 2010. He has served on the following committees:
Co-Chair of the Senate Resources Committee
Co-Chair of the Joint Armed Services Committee
Chair of the Senate State Affairs Committee
Vice-Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee
Senate Transportation Committee Member
Administrative Regulation Review Committee Member
Finance Subcommittees: Military & Veterans' Affairs, Public Safety, Natural Resources, Court system, Health & Social Services, Administration
Prior to being elected to the Senate, Wielechowski served in the following positions:
President, Northeast Community Council
Commissioner, Anchorage Planning & Zoning Commission
Chair, Creekside Town Center
Member, Anchorage Mayoral Transition Team
