Who is Brian M. Sturgeon?

Brian M. Sturgeon has been named a vice president of Sysco corporation where he will also continue as president and chief operating officer at FreshPoint, Inc., SYSCO's wholly owned specialty produce company. Mr. Sturgeon joined SYSCO in March last year, following the company's purchase of FreshPoint Holdings, Inc., one of the largest foodservice and wholesale produce distribution companies in North America. He began his career at FreshPoint in 1990 as chief financial officer of the company's eastern region and in 1994 was named chief financial officer of FreshPoint Holdings. In 1996, following a management buyout of FreshPoint, Mr. Sturgeon was named chief operating officer of the company. In October 2000 he was named president of FreshPoint. Prior to joining the produce industry he served as an accountant for the firm of Deloitte and Touche in Miami, Florida, and also was a senior vice president for the largest furniture retailer in South Florida. A native of Miami, Mr. Sturgeon is a certified public accountant and a 1979 graduate of Florida International University, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting.
