Who was Byron George Skelton?

Byron George Skelton was a United States federal judge.

Born in Florence, in Williamson County, Texas, Skelton received a B.A. from the University of Texas in 1927, an M.A. from the same institution in 1928, and an LL.B. from University of Texas School of Law in 1931. He was in private practice in Temple, Texas from 1931 to 1942, and was a County attorney of Bell County, Texas from 1934 to 1938. He was a special assistant to the U.S. ambassador to Argentina from 1942 to 1945, returning to his private practice from 1945 to 1966. He was also a city attorney of Temple, Texas from 1945 to 1960.

Skelton was appointed by President Lyndon B. Johnson to be an Associate Judge on the United States Court of Claims in 1966, and took Senior Status in 1977. On October 1, 1982, Skelton was reassigned by operation of law to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, along with the other sitting appellate judges of the Court of Claims. His service was terminated on February 6, 2004, when he died. He is the great grandfather to Mysti, Rusten and Rayse Ramsey, Janae' Jessen, Meghan and Molly Farrell, and Adam and Anna Herald.,
