Who is Byron Hurt?

Byron Patrick Hurt is an American activist, lecturer, writer, and award-winning documentary filmmaker. In 2010, he hosted the Emmy-nominated television show, REEL WORKS with BYRON HURT. His first documentary to broadcast nationally on PBS is "Hip-Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes" in 2007 on Independent Lens. Another of his films "Soul Food Junkies" is scheduled to broadcast nationally on Independent Lens on PBS January 2013.
