Who was Colleen Kay Hutchins?

Colleen Kay Hutchins, was crowned as Brigham Young University Homecoming Queen in 1947. In 1952, she was crowned as Miss America.

Hutchins was a native of Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the sister of basketball player Mel Hutchins, the mother of former NBA player Kiki Vandeweghe, and grandmother of 2008 US Open - Girls Singles winner Coco Vandeweghe.

She resided, until her death, with her husband Ernest Vandeweghe in Indian Wells, California. She died on March 24, 2010 in Newport Beach, aged 83.
