Who was Conrado Benitez?
Conrado Benitez was born in Pagsanjan, Laguna and was a former dean of the College of Liberal Arts at the University of the Philippines. He was also the first president, as well as chairman, and one of the original incorporators of the Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement. He testified in front of the United States Senate Committee on the Philippines in 1919 to explain the state of higher education in the Philippines. His 1926 textbook History of the Philippines was widely used in Philippine public schools. He was one of the drafters, a group known as the "Seven Wise Men", of the Philippines' 1935 constitution.
