Who was Cornelis Mahu?
Cornelis Mahu was a Flemish Baroque painter who painted monochromatic "breakfast" still-lifes similar to those made in Haarlem by Dutch artists such as Pieter Claesz and Willem Claeszoon Heda.
Mahu was born and died in Antwerp, where he became master of the Guild of St. Luke in 1638. His pupil was Gaspar Peeter Verbruggen.
