Who is Damien DeRose?

Peasant is the work of Damien DeRose, an American songwriter, singer, and producer, born on September 23, 1985. Starting off in 2003 at the age of 18 as a DIY specialist, his first album, “Fear Not, Distant Lover”, was entirely home-recorded and self-released. With Fear Not Distant Lover and his second album, On The Ground. DeRose sings of the hopes and fears associated with life and love like a more optimistic version of Elliott Smith. Peasant has toured extensively in both Europe and the USA, sharing the stage with Cursive, Dr. Dog, Horse Feathers, Dan Mangan, Delta Spirit, Rocky Votolato, Sharon Van Etten, Chris Pureka, Hop Along, Illinois, Albert Hammond Jr., Liz Green and many others.

In late 2011, Peasant teamed up with the London, UK based Schnitzel Records Ltd. to release his latest album, "Bound For Glory" in the US, Canada and Europe. Schnitzel Records Ltd. is a London-based independent record label set up by Oliver Geywitz in 2003. The label has worldwide distribution and is mainly orientated towards Indie rock music. Schnitzel Records first signed with the German band Ragazzi in 2003, a mix of pop and electronic rock influences. The label also releases music in Europe and Japan by Ween and the Moistboyz. Another project is the release of Dean Fertita's solo album under the name of Hello=Fire.
