Who is Dan Lungren?

Daniel Edward "Dan" Lungren is a former U.S. Representative for California's 3rd congressional district, serving from 2005 to 2013. During his tenure, the district covered most of Sacramento County, portions of Solano County, and all of Alpine, Amador, and Calaveras counties. Lungren is a member of the Republican Party, and a former member of the Republican Study Committee.

Lungren previously represented the Long Beach area in Congress from 1979 to 1989, served as California's Attorney General from 1991 to 1999, and was the Republican nominee for Governor of California in 1998, losing to Democrat Gray Davis, who was later recalled.
