Who is Dane Lovett?
Dane Lovett is an artist from Brisbane, Australia.
Lovett says that his career highlight was winning a cake box decorating competition in 1991, with the prize of a book on hippopotamuses.
In 2005, Lovett received the Qantas Spirit of Youth award. One of the prizes for this award is mentorship from Elizabeth Ann MacGregor.
Lovett has been involved in a number of exhibitions in both artist-run and commercial galleries, he has been included in the Metro 5 Art Award and ABN Amro emerging art prize.
Lovett has made the cover art for Australian rock band Postcards Kaleido's album, Wise Old World, and subsequent singles, as well as Eskimo Joe's album, Black Fingernails, Red Wine, and subsequent singles. He was nominated for Best Cover Art in the ARIA Music Awards of 2006 for his work on Black Fingernails, Red Wine.
In 2011 Dane Lovett was included in the group show "Explaining Colours to the Blind" at Tristian Koenig, exhibited solo at Colette in Paris and received a grant from the Australia Council for the Arts to undertake a studio residency in Tokyo for three months.
Dane Lovett is represented by Tristian Koenig in Melbourne and Sullivan + Strumpf Fine Art in Sydney.
