Who is David Campbell Bannerman?

David Campbell Bannerman MEP is a Member of the European Parliament for East of England for the Conservative Party, having sat for the UK Independence Party until 24 May 2011. He served as UKIP deputy leader from 2006 until 2010, when he was replaced by Paul Nuttall.

Before joining UKIP, he was a Conservative Party activist who came to prominence as the Chairman of the Bow Group. He ran for Parliament at the 1997 election in Glasgow Rutherglen and in 2001 in Warwick and Leamington. Campbell Bannerman joined UKIP in 2004. He was elected in 2009.
