Who is David Francolini?

David Thomas Giuseppe Francolini is an English rock musician and record producer.

Best known as a drummer, Francolini has played in a number of bands. He began playing on the Bristol alternative rock scene in the late 1980s: one of the bands he played in was Something Pretty Beautiful, which went on to tour with The House of Love and resulted in Francolini's introduction to guitarist Terry Bickers. Francolini and Bickers co-founded the psychedelic rock band Levitation in 1990, gaining immediate press attention and praise for dynamic stage performances. During this period, Francolini also co-founded the band Strangelove with Patrick Duff in 1991: although the band itself lasted until 1998 and released three albums, Francolini's own time with Strangelove was brief, only playing for two gigs before being replaced by Jon Langley.

Levitation would go on to release several singles and three albums. The band would continue until 1994, and Francolini remained with the band until the final split. He subsequently reunited with two other former Levitation musicians to form the psychedelic/alt.rock power trio Dark Star, which lasted between 1998 and 2001 and released one album, Twenty Twenty Sound.
