David Marks

Who is David Marks?

David Lee Marks is an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. He is best known as a member of the rock band The Beach Boys, with whom he recorded five studio albums, and of whom he was a member from 1962 until 1963, again in 1997 until 1999, and lastly in 2012. Following his initial departure from the band, Marks fronted The Marksmen and performed and recorded as a session musician. To date, he has released three solo albums, Work Tapes, Something Funny Goin' On and I Think About You Often.

A neighbor of the three Wilson brothers, Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, David Marks joined The Beach Boys at the age of thirteen as its rhythm guitarist, replacing the recently departed Al Jardine. Over the next year, Marks recorded four studio albums with the band, Surfin' Safari, Surfin' U.S.A., Surfer Girl and Little Deuce Coupe, before departing, following an argument with Murry Wilson, the Wilson boys' father and the band's manager.
