Who is David Sainsbury, Baron Sainsbury of Turville?

David John Sainsbury, Baron Sainsbury of Turville, FRS, is a British businessman and politician. From 1992 to 1997, he served as the Chairman of Sainsbury's, the supermarket chain established by his great-grandfather John James Sainsbury in 1869. He was made a life peer in 1997, and currently sits in the House of Lords as a member of the Labour Party. He served in the government as the Minister for Science and Innovation from 1998 and 2006.

In 2011, he was elected Chancellor of the University of Cambridge.
