Who was David Tyrrell?

David Tyrrell, is an Irish footballer whose last club was Bray Wanderers.

Tyrrell plays as a left-sided midfielder who can also operate in defence. Tyrrell played for Belvedere, Cherry Orchard, Rivervalley and Home Farm at youth level before joining Shelbourne. After impressing at the Under 21 level, Tyrrell was promoted to the Shels first team before he was loaned to Bray Wanderers for both the 2005 and 2006 seasons in order to gain regular first team experience. Tyrrell finally joined Bray on a permanent deal for the 2007 season but he would depart Bray in July 2007 to join Shamrock Rovers.

He made his Shamrock Rovers debut on 3 July 2007 and made a scoring league debut.

Tyrrell was released on loan by Shamrock Rovers on 3 June 2008 after one goal in 16 appearances. He was signed on loan by Finn Harps on 4 July 2008 before he was released by Rovers prior to the start of the 2009 season. He signed for Athlone Town in April 2009 making 16 league and cup appearances for the club.

Tyrrell returned to former club Bray Wanderers for the 2010 season.

Tyrrell continued to drop down the divisions as injury and personal issues affected his game. Tyrrell is believed to be battling an ongoing gambling problem, he is known to regularly drop four figure sums in his local Paddy Power bookmakers in Terenure.
