Who is David W. Goodall?

David William Goodall is an Australian botanist and ecologist. He was very influential in the early development of numerical methods in ecology, particularly the study of vegetation.

Goodall completed his BSc in 1935 and his PhD in 1941, both at the University of London. In 1948, he moved to Australia to become senior lecturer of botany at the University of Melbourne. 1952-1954, he served as reader in botany at the then University College of the Gold Coast
