Who is Dean Sampson?

Dean Sampson is a rugby league footballer of the 1980s, '90s, and 2000s, playing for Stanley Rangers ARLFC, and Castleford Tigers, as a Prop. Sampson played for Castleford from 1987 to 2002 when he retired. He was selected to go on the 1992 Great Britain Lions tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Dean Sampson was a Substitute in Castleford Tigers' 33-2 victory over Wigan in the 1993–94 Regal Trophy final at Headingley Stadium, Leeds on Saturday 22 January 1994.

In the 1997 post season, Sampson was selected to play for Great Britain in the first match of the Super League Test series against Australia.

He came back in 2003 when Castleford went through an injury crisis. He scored on his comeback game against Warrington Wolves. He also played once more for Castleford in 2004 against Hull Dockers in the challenge cup. Overall Dean played 431 games for Castleford scoring 68 tries. With 431-appearances, Dean Sampson is joint second in Castleford's all-time appearance list behind John Joyner, who has 613-appearances. Dean was a real fans favourite for Castleford and his name was often chanted by the home fans.
