Who is Derrick O'Keefe?

Derrick O'Keefe is a Canadian Vancouver-based writer, editor and social justice activist. He was the editor of rabble.ca until 2013 and his writings on foreign policy, Canadian politics, ecology and other topics have been published in a number of both alternative and mainstream publications.

He is the author of the book Michael Ignatieff: The Lesser Evil? and the co-writer of Afghan MP Malalai Joya’s memoir A Woman Among Warlords: The Extraordinary Story of an Afghan Who Dared to Raise Her Voice.

O'Keefe is a former co-chair of Stopwar.ca in Vancouver, and of the Canadian Peace Alliance, the largest network of anti-war groups in Canada. He was a founding editor and publisher of the on-line zine Seven Oaks, 2004-2008, a now discontinued "journal of "politics, culture and resistance" that featured the writing of a group of young, progressive journalists and activists.

He is one of the producers of Democracy North.
