Who is Detlef Hofmann?

Detlef Hofmann is a German sprint canoer who competed from the late 1980s to the late 1990s. He won a gold medal in the K-4 1000 m event at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.

Hofmann won five medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with three golds and two silvers.

In May 1992, Hofmann was caught for doping after testing positive for testosterone and kicked off of the team. He would return after the 1992 Summer Olympics to compete.
