Who is Diana Francis?

Diana Francis is a British artist, living and residing in Singapore.

Diana studied art at Croydon College in London, then went on to study at Wimbledon School of Art. After graduating she worked initially as an illustrator and designer in a West End design company in London. Diana then moved to Asia to work in advertising as an Art Director 18 years ago. During this time, Diana worked extensively throughout Asia Pacific, as Regional Creative Manager for McCann-Erickson. She lived in Hong Kong and Malaysia before settling in Singapore 13 years ago.

After leaving advertising Diana decided to go back to her fine art roots, where she now exhibits and is and has been represented by a couple of leading Asian galleries, including Artfolio Gallery at Singapore’s Raffles Hotel, and Red Sea Gallery.

In 2008 she opened her own gallery/working studio, Diana Francis Studio in Holland Village’s Block 43’s Worklofts@Chip Bee.

Diana’s work is inspired by her experiences and travels through Asia, but interpreted through the eyes of a foreigner, applying contemporary colour and composition to predominantly Asian themes.

Very much inspired by Asian culture and fauna, Diana translates her subjects through the media of oil, where the subject is executed with vibrant colour and the extensive use of knife to capture texture and depth for her paintings. Currently Diana is becoming renowned for her interpretations of Singapore’s Shophouses and historical portrayals of Singapore’s past.
